Michael Kahler, 76, died of a kidney ailment on Wednesday, January 30th, in a Billings, Montana hospital where he had been a patient for six weeks. He died on his 76th birthday.
He was born January 30th, 1870, in Russia, where he grew up and married Clara KLEE. In 1900 they came to the United States, where Mrs. Kahler died a few years later.
Mr. Kahler had lived in Billings the past three years, making his home with a son, Fred Kahler. Before going to Billings he had lived at Sykeston for 43 years. He had been blind for approximately thirty-five years.
Besides his son with whom he lived, survivors are a son, John Kahler of Heaton; a daughter, Mrs. George Waliser of Freewater, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Vanderberk of Drake; a brother, John Kahler of Tuttle; and eighteen grandchildren.

Christina SCHLEIGER , 98, of Berthoud, Colo., died July 10, 2007, at McKee Hospice Center in Loveland.
She was born June 24, 1909, in Norka, Russia, to John and Elizabeth Rothermel Kaiser. At age 4, she came to the United States with her parents. She married John SCHLEIGER, JR. on May 4, 1929, in Loveland. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1988.
She and her husband farmed east of Berthoud most of their married life and spent their retirement living in Berthoud. Most of her life was spent living in and around Berthoud.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Schleiger and wife Arlis of Loveland, and Kenneth Schleiger and wife Virginia of Berthoud. Five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, and a son-in-law, Max Schaal of Berthoud. Sisters, Pauline Sterkel of Berthoud, Leona Hutton and Lorene Hartung, both of Portland, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Marjorie Schaal, and two brothers, Adam and George Kaiser.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, First United Methodist Church of Berthoud, with Rev. Stephanie Munoz officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Berthoud. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County in care of Viegut Funeral Home.

RUSSELL — Donald Dean Karst, 70, died Sept. 15 at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell. Born July 9, 1937, in Milberger, he was the son of William Fredrick and Lydia (Templing) Karst. The family moved to Russell in the 1940s. He began working in the oilfield pulling unit business in the early 1950s and eventually started Don Karst Well Service in the 1970s, and became an independent oil producer until he retired due to his health. He lived in Russell until moving to Hays in 1982 and returned to Russell in 1999. He married Diana NEWSOME on Sept. 5, 1970, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Russell. She died Feb. 15, 1985.
Mr. Karst was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Russell.
Survivors include two sons, Monty Karst and wife Kaylee and Todd Alan Templeton, all of Russell; a stepson, Brian Reddig of Gorham; a stepdaughter, Jennie Dandridge of Larned; a sister, Ruth Miller of Russell; and six grandchildren, Randilyn Karst, Nash Karst, Autumn Karst, Cane Reddig, Tad Reddig and Diana Dandridge. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Clarence , Herbert, and Elmer Karst; and one sister, Alvina Templeton.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Burial will be at the St. John’s Cemetery. MOUNDRIDGE - Marcelene "Marcy" Stucky, 46, died Dec. 14, 2007, at her home, Moundridge.
She was born April 28, 1961, in Moundridge, the daughter of Darrel D. and Margie M. Vogt Kaufman. She graduated from Moundridge High School in 1979 and Bethel College in 1981. A lifetime Moundridge resident, she was a receptionist and bookkeeper for Bachman Service Center and Siemens Service Center, and a receptionist for Moundridge Telephone Company. She belonged to Eden Mennonite Church, rural Moundridge.
Survivors include: two sons, Lucas and Michael, both of Moundridge; her mother, Margie M. Kaufman, Moundridge; and two sisters, Belinda J. Galle, Pratt, and Sandra S. Stephenson, McPherson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Darrel D. Kaufman.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Eden Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Moundridge. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eden Mennonite Church, rural Moundridge, with Pastors Dave Stevens and Mike Bogard presiding. Elsie Allegra “Karst” Brack, 87, Russell, formerly of California, Otis, Great Bend, and Sedalia, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at Hays Medical Center.
She was born July 17, 1919, near Milberger to John Jacob “J.J.” and Emelia “Mollie” (Keil) Karst. She attended a country school in the Milberger area.
She married Clifford G. BRACK on January 22, 1943, in Reno, Nev. He preceded her in death Aug. 6, 2003. She worked for Theis Packing and Reisbick Clothing Store, Great Bend.
Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Gullickson, Bloomington, Minn.; a brother, Herbert Karst, Newton; a sister, Elma Morgenstern, Overland Park; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, Russell; burial in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery near Great Bend. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell. Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church in care of the mortuary.

Gary G. Karst, 70, of Topeka, lost his battle to Leukemia and joined his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. Gary was born September 2, 1936 on a small farm located near Galatia in Barton County, Kansas and was the youngest child of Emil & Clara (Nuss) Karst. He was baptized September 27, 1936 and was confirmed April 10, 1949 in Russell County. He attended elementary school in a one room school house and graduated from Great Bend High School. After attending Ft. Hays College for two years, he transferred to Kansas State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree. Gary was married to Loretta Marie STAUB on November 30, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend. They moved to Topeka in November of 1960 where he joined the architectural firm of Horst & Terrill as an employee and later as a partner. He was a principal and Director of Design for 41 years with Horst, Terrill & Karst Architects, P.A. The firm has offices located in Topeka and Overland Park, Kansas. Gary was responsible for the design and construction of several hundred projects throughout Kansas and Missouri consisting of educational facilities from Pre-Kindergarten through Post Graduate University Research facilities, Correctional facilities along with Municipal facilities. Many of these projects received design recognitions from both piers and user groups. Some of the local buildings for which his firm was responsible include the Forbes Field Air Terminal, the Kansas Expo Center, the Bennett Computer Center at WSU, the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, the new Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex, Landon Jr. H.S., French Jr. H.S. and Seaman H.S. Gary was an active member of the American Institute of Architects and served on multiple committees from the local, state as well as national level. He was elected President of Kansas AlA and was also awarded the Henry W. Schirmer Distinguished Service Award by his piers. Mayor Charles Wright appointed him to serve on the Capitol City Redevelopment Agency and was a member of that agency throughout its existence. He was also a member of Optimist International and served in many capacities including President of Breakfast Club and Lt. Gov. of Zone 6. Gary was active in his church through the years and served on many boards, including President of the Congregation. He enjoyed designing and building furniture, traveling and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Vierna who died in infancy and a brother, Albert E. Karst of Hays. Gary is survived by his wife, Loretta of Topeka and three children: Kevin Karst and his wife Annette, Kansas City, MO; Sheri Curran and her husband Scott, Tulsa, OK; and Stacey Utech and her husband Randy, Topeka. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Travis and Kaitlin Curran and Madison and Makena Utech. Additionally, he is survived by three sisters: Dorothy Rube, Hoisington; Lafern Niedens, Great Bend; and Joyce Lust, Hoisington.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2007 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. WAMEGO- Leo Alexander Karst, 86, died Thursday May 24, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. Born on June 6, 1920, in Olmitz, Kansas, he was the son of Alex and Mary Elizabeth (Pope) Karst. In 1941, he married Betty Ann SCHUMAKER in Emporia, and the couple moved to Wamego in 1947. Mr. Karst enlisted with the United States Navy and proudly his country for three years as a Chief Gunnery Officer in the South Pacific in World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Mr. Karst owned and operated Karst Soil Service for 30 years before he retired.
His survivors include: his wife, Betty, of the home; his daughter, JoLane Randle-Karst and her husband John of Wamego, KS; his son, Alex L. Karst Jr. and his wife Willene, of Loveland, CO; his brothers, Melvin Karst of Hays, KS, Milton Rein of Branson, MO, and Leroy Rein of New Mexico; his sisters, Darlene Mylnar of Hoisington, KS, and Joyce Wegele of Great Bend, KS; his four grandchildren, Rodney Simmer, Kendra Simmer-Sexe, Jaren Karst, and Jaya Karst-Lewis; and five great grandchildren. Mr. Karst was preceded in death by an infant brother, a brother Ralph Karst, and a sister Beatrice.
Funeral Services with Full Naval Honors will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday May 29th at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego with burial following at Wamego Cemetery. Lanita Marie Smith, 41, Hays, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Mrs. Smith was born Lanita Marie Karst on August 6, 1966, in Hays, to Albert and Doris (Ochs) Karst. She was a registered nurse. She married Lance SMITH on April 29, 1989, in Hays.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Soroptomist Internnational, Wild West Festival, American Organization of Executive Nurses and the Kansas Organization of Nurse Leaders.
She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, Steven, and her mother-in-law, Rose Holman.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Ashley and Sierra, both of the home; three brothers, Thomas and wife Mary of Hays, Mark and wife Shannon of Victoria, and Douglas of Lucas; four sisters, Dianne Schmidt and husband Gene of Great Bend, Lois Herrman and husband Patrick of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Maryln Schumacher and husband, Larry of Great Bend, and Patricia of Hays; her mother of Hays, her father-in-aw, Eldon Smith of Glenwood, Iowa, her step-father-in-law, Eddie Holman, of Salina; six nieces and five nephews.

Steven Gary Kautz, Sr. 58 of Gering died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel with Pastor Michael Mead officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. At his request, he was cremated. Steven was born on Sept. 6, 1949 in Douglas, Wyo. to Victor and Wilma (Harriger) Kautz. He attended school in Bayard. He entered the United States Army in 1967 and served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharge in 1972.
He married Carol BANKS in 1967 and had three children to this union, Steven, Jr., Candance and Lance. He later married Renee LARSEN in 1975 and to this union had a son, Matthew.
Steve was self employed in construction, concrete work and painting for many years. He enjoyed his music, spending time golfing, fishing at the lake and the mountains.
Survivors include his children Steven Kautz, Jr. (Christina), Candace (David) Benge, and Lance Kautz all of Gibbon, and Matthew (Brenda) Kautz of Gering; 15 grandchildren; brother and sisters, Bill Kautz of Torrington, Wyo., Kay Henderson of Coffeeville, Kan., Pat Shiery of Denver, and Vicki Reitz of Minnesota and his best canine friend, Jethro Bodine and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Marlin, and nephew Brad Suhr.

Survivors include her sisters, Dorothy Heidenreich of Kearney, Alva J. DuBois of Boulder, Colo., Helen Lessman of Sioux City, Iowa and Marguerite Chapin of Lincoln; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her death was her mother, Catherine; father and stepmother, Conrad and Katherine; husband, Harry and brother Phillip C. Kehling.

LeRoy E. Keil, 73, of Great Bend, died Oct. 8 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born March 5, 1934, at Galatia, the son of Emmanuel E. and Louise Scheuerman Keil. He married Donita M. GALYARDT on Oct. 10, 1954, at Russell. He was a salesman for Home Steel Siding in Hays. He previously worked for Southard Home Improvement for 20 years and Continental EMSCO at Taft, Calif. He was a resident of Great Bend since 1977, coming from Taft, Calif.
Mr. Keil was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Great Bend, American Legion in Hoisington, and Barton County Community College Cougar Boosters. He was a talented athlete at Russell High School excelling in football, basketball, baseball and track. He also played football at Wichita State University.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, Jeremy Keil, Great Bend; three daughters, Jamie Keil, Wichita, Julie Peterson and husband Michael, Great Bend, and Joni Wintholz and husband Brad, Great Bend; one sister, Helen Paisley and husband Jerry, Smithville, Va.; five grandchildren, Nicole Smith, Heidi Wintholz, Theresa Smith, Cole Wintholz and Kassidy Wintholz, all of Great Bend; four great-grandchildren, Kylie Wintholz, Keaton Wintholz, Aliyah Smith and Isaac Talbert; local nieces Angie Barr and Christi Penka, both of Great Bend; nieces and nephews Dianne, Deborah, Michael, Scott, Teresa, Rhonda, Kimberly, Brian, Scott, Daniel and Jennifer; and a special friend of the family, Ann Jambor of Wichita.

GREAT BEND - LeRoy E. Keil, 73, died Oct. 8, 2007, at the Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend.

DODGE CITY - Walter Calvin Kellar, 83, died June 22, 2007, at his home in Dodge City. He was born April 14, 1924, at Valentine, Neb., the son of Enoch Monroe and Beda Turnquist Kellar. A Dodge City resident since 1984, moving from Castle Rock, Colo., he was a rancher. Survivors include: three sons, Paul Kellar, Dodge City, Greg Kellar, Albert, and Kevin Kellar, Littleton, Colo.; a daughter, Cherylene Brychel, Littleton, Colo.; a sister, Helen Raubha, Valentine, Neb.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Monroe Kellar; a sister, Eleine Wagner. There will be no service, and cremation has taken place. Harold E. Keller was born March 6, 1922 to John Albert and Lena Tena Schoen Keller on a farm near Cawker City, Kansas. He departed this life of 85 years and 19 days Sunday, March 25, 2007 at Salina Regional Health Center in Saline, Kansas.
"Ham", as everyone knew him, moved to the Hunter area as a small child, attended the Blue Hill School and graduated from Hunter High School in the Class of 1942. He served briefly in the United States Army during World War II and received a medical discharge. On January 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to
Maribelle Jean ANDERSON at Glen Elder, Kansas. Two sons Ray and Max were born to this happy union and they made their home on a farm near Hunter. Throughout their married life, they also enjoyed traveling with friends and tours to many destinations across the country and even to Jamaica and Canada. In 2001, Harold and Maribelle were fortunate to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open-house at the church.
Frequently in overalls, Harold loved farming. At an early age he learned how to repair things, and worked for the Swinton Implement Company in Hunter as a mechanic. Always a good steward. Harold made the most of what he had. He especially looked forward to harvest and spent many happy summers doing custom what harvesting from Cherokee, Oklahoma to Mellette, South Dakota. During his career, he saw many changes in machinery and enjoyed collecting vintage farm implements and showing them in parades.
A rather quiet, quick to listen person, Harold's treasure was his family and community. Lighter moments wee happiest spent listening to polka music. Always there for his grandchildren, he looked forward to spending time with them and attending their activities. He could repair just about anything and enjoyed sharing his mechanical talents with others. For several years, he and his friends enjoyed appearing in parades as the Beverly Hillbillies and he cherished playing the role of Jethro. Harold was a devoted servant of trinity Lutheran Church and was the last surviving member of the building committee. He was a founding father of the Hunter Care Association and the Hunter Christmas Decoration project. Harold enjoyed helping friends, family and the church whenever there was a BBQ, especially keeping an eye on the cooker at the Heiman-Keller family reunions.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, a 50 year member of the Hunter Lions Club and the Hunter American Legion Post No. 77. For many years, Harold was Custer Township Trustee and a member of the Greenwood Union Cemetery Board.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leonard Keller and one sister, Ruby Zimmerman.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife Maribelle of the home, sons, Ray Keller and wife Shelly of Sylvan Grove, KS., Max Keller and wife Kally of Hunter; two brothers, Richard Keller and wife Evelyn of Hunter, Melvin Keller and wife Grace of Belleville; and one sister Dorothy Reiter and husband Felix of Hunter, five grandchildren, and a host of many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter, Kansas with Pastor Gerald Radtke officiating.
Music was provided by Andy Heller, vocalist and Janet Seehafer, organist. Casketbearers were Gary Keller, John Keller, Lee Keller, Levi Keller, Mitchell Keller and Tyler Francis. Military Rites were given by the American Legion Post No. 77 of Hunter, Kansas. Interment was at Greenwood Union Cemetery of Hunter , Kansas. McDonald-Roberts Funeral Service of Beloit, Kansas was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Harry Keller, 88, of Worland were held Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Worland with Dr. L.E. “Bud” Surles officiating. Burial followed at Riverview Memorial
Gardens Cemetery. Harry died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at Worland

He was born Oct. 21, 1916, in Scottsbluff, Neb., the son of Pete and Kathern (Wagner) Keller. Harry was raised and schooled in Scottsbluff. Harry left school as a young man to go to work to support his family
after his father became ill. He worked on farms in the Scottsbluff area for several years.
He married Lydia H. FEAGLER on March 7, 1937, in Scottsbluff. He and Lydia worked for farmers at Gering and Mitchell. In 1953 they started own in Gering. They moved to Mitchell to farm with the family and then to Henry, Neb. In 1947 the family moved to Torrington to farm, and in 1953 to Lingle. They then moved back to Scottsbluff, where he operated
a trailer court for a short time. In 1961 the family moved to Veteran, where Harry formed a farming partnership with his son-in-law and
his son. In 1966 they all moved to Worland, where they farmed the Banjo Ranch as Harry Keller and Sons. He retired in 1976 but kept busy as the Washakie Beetgrowers representative at the tare lab at Holly Sugar until 1991. He also helped the growers with securing beet labor.
Harry was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served on the Consistory, was head usher for many years and took care of the church lawn. His hobby was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed raising roses and enjoying coffee with his friends. He had been a 4-H
leader and a chaperone for the Job’s Daughters.
He is survived by his wife, Lydia, of Worland; son Jim (Dottie) Keller of Windsor, Colo.; daughter Joann (Larry) Bower of Worland; Brother Albert Keller of Portland, Ore.; sister Mary Collins of Terrytown,
Neb.; grandchildren Wayne Bower of Billings, Mont., Michael Bower of California, Tammi Salzman of Worland, and Colleen Gross and Jolene Mayfield of Windsor, Colo.; great-grandchildren Josh Hunter, Kyle Ferguson, Wade and Shane Bower, Jace and Vickie Salzman and Spencer Bower.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter. Veile Mortuary of Worland was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Helen L. Loose, 77, of Scottsbluff, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at the Mitchell Care Center.

Helen was born March 9, 1930, in Bayard, to Henry and Katy (Bauer) Keller. She graduated from Minatare High School and married Walter LOOSE in Sept. of 1948. She loved to work word and jigsaw puzzles.

TORRINGTON, Wyo. - Jacob "Jake" V. Keller, 19, died Nov. 14, 2007 in Okinawa, Japan.
Military funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25, at the First Congregational Church of Torrington with Reverend Tom Kittleman officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
Visitation hours will be held Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that memorial contributions in Jake's honor be directed to either the Torrington High School Speech Team or to the Semper Fi Fund, which helps the families of injured Marines. Jacob was born March 28, 1988, in Bellevue, Ohio the son of Worthy and Linda Keller. He grew up and received his early education in Bellevue. The family moved to Torrington in 1998 where Jake continued his education; graduating Torrington High School in 2006. He returned to Ohio for a few months before coming back to Torrington. He then joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. While in high school, Jake was a member of the Speech Team and he was a member of the youth group at the First Congregational Church. He enjoyed music, video games, movies and spending time with his friends.
Survivors include his parents, and sister, Katie Keller all of Torrington; his maternal grandmother, Shirley Kuhn of Bellevue, Ohio; his paternal grandparents, Chet and Shirley Keller of Sandusky, Ohio; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Preceding him in death was his sister, Heidi and maternal grandfather, Larry Kuhn.

TURPIN, Okla. - Pepper Dawn Keller, 36, rural Turpin, Okla., left her home in Turpin, Okla., to be with her Lord Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007.
She was born Sept. 23, 1970, the daughter of Burl Dean and Janetta Lynn Conley Keller in Hugoton. She was a 1989 graduate of Turpin (Okla.) High School and received an associate of arts degree from Dodge City Community College in 1990.
She served in the U.S. Navy from Oct 13, 1992 through October 12, 1996, and had many commendations. Her work in the Navy included being stationed at Keflavik, Iceland, working as crypto logical technician administration CTA 3rd Class. She was also stationed at the Navy post-graduate school in Monterey, Calif., working in the classified library. After returning from the Navy, she continued her studies at Panhandle State University, Goodwell, Okla., where she earned a bachelor's of science degree in 1997 in psychology and a minor in history and English. She was a security specialist with the intertactical protection program at TRW in Carson, Calif., from 1998 to 1999. During this time she joined the California Army National Guard serving as a 2nd Lt. June 24, 1999 to Sept. 7, 2005.
She then moved to Italy to work for Premier Technology Group, a civilian contractor with U.S. Army Intelligence Europe from January 2000 through August 2000. She was working in Italy when she was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.
She returned home to face her illness with courage and faith surrounded by the care of her loving and dedicated parents.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Forgan, Okla., and the Cimarron River Valley National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. (NSDAR)
Survivors include: her parents, rural Turpin, Okla.; two grandmothers, Kathryn Gordon, Liberal, and Dorothy Wightman, Panama, Okla.; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by three grandfathers, Norton Gordon, Harold Keller and Bart Wightman.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Forgan, Okla., with Pastor Paul Dickson presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, Liberal, with the family present to greet friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery, Liberal, with military graveside rites conducted by the U.S. Navy and representation by the U.S. Army. HILL CITY - Ralph John Keller, 81, died Nov. 23, 2007, at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.
He was born June 2, 1926, at Hays, the son of John A. and Anna Barbara Kerth Keller. A longtime resident of the Hill City area, he was an architect. He attended First Presbyterian Church, Hill City.
On June 25, 1950, he married Connie Mae UHL at Coldwater. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Ronald Gene, Hugoton, and Donald John, Hutchinson: a brother, Kenneth, Salina; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Hill City, with the Rev. Judith Stricker presiding. There will be no visitation. PHOENIX - Josephine Kelln Bagwell Gentili, 87, died Monday, July 23, 2007.
Memorial Mass will be at 5 p.m. Friday in St. John's Catholic Church in Borger, Texas. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church in Borger. Brown Funeral Directors of Borger will assist with arrangements.
Mrs. Gentili was born in Canadian, Texas, on Feb. 4, 1920, to John A. and Mollie Kelln and passed away in her sleep on July 23, 2007. She was raised in Higgins, Texas, as one of 10 children. After graduating from Higgins High School in 1938, she attended Amarillo Business College and later accepted a job at Pantex, where she met her first husband, Dr. Robert Wayne BAGWELL. She and Dr. Bagwell lived together in Borger until his death in 1955.
She lived in Big Spring for a few years and settled in Phoenix in 1963 and resided there until her death. Josephine was a beautiful woman. She loved to sew and was a great cook. She loved Texas and the Southwest. She appreciated art and produced a wonderful collection of oil paintings and watercolors. She was an independent, progressive thinker who preferred quality over quantity. She lived a simple life, was self reliant and seldom asked for anything for herself. She loved to study and received a B.A. degree from
Arizona State University when her children were nearly grown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Mayme Laubhan, Bertha Laubhan, Elsie Turner and Martha Nitschke; three brothers, John Kelln, Dave Kelln and William Kelln; and her beloved daughter, Suzanne.
Survivors include a brother, Ben Kelln and wife Bonita, of Waco, Texas; a sister, Marge Hazlett of Amarillo, Texas; three children, Jan Vermeulen and husband Larry of Phoenix, Robert W. Bagwell and wife Kathryn of Dallas and Terese Hammerle and husband Ed Kelley of Boston; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Wesley Eugene Kellums was born Oct. 13, 1916, in Morrill the son of Roy Wesley and Eva (McIntyre) Kellums. He married Neva G. MILLS on June 5, 1937, and she passed away on July 29, 1968. He married Frieda (GAYMAN) FLOCK on Aug. 10, 1970, and she passed away Oct. 30, 2003.
He attended school in Morrill, Campion Academy, Colo. and Lyman, Neb. Wes enlisted in the Army at the age of 15 and was honorably discharged 3 years later. Early in his life he worked as a farm hand, lumber jack, ditch rider, and potato inspector. Later he dedicated his efforts to be a farmer, feeder, owned and operated a service station, bulk gas, implement dealership and then went on to become a realtor, a pilot and an auctioneer. He was a successful entrepreneur and generously helped others.
He was a believer and served his Lord and Savior, nation, state, community, Gideons, several churches and several community service organizations. He was a caring father, husband, neighbor and friend. He laboriously and faithfully read his Bible and the Daily Bread "with magnification" and urged others to read Scripture while they had their vision. He prayed faithfully for his family, friends and neighbors.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Rex and Margaret Kellums, Fay and Larry Kautz, Neva and John Schmechel; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and Freida's children and their spouses, Mike and Cathy Flock and Ty and Ginger Flock, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Joyce Schneider passed away peacefully on Dec. 10, 2007. Joyce was 74. She was born to Cal and Nellie Kepler on Oct. 16, 1933. Joyce and her family moved to White Sulphur Springs shortly after her birth. She graduated from high school in Livingston.
In the late 1950s, Joyce moved to Billings. On June 12, 1959, she married C. J. "Tony" SCHNEIDER. Joyce worked for Carter Oil and Ideal Cement Company for a number of years. She also was an avid bowler and served as the secretary of the Elks Women's bowling league and was on the Board of Directors of the Elks bowling league for many years. Joyce and Tony volunteered many hours every summer helping run the Elks Bingo booth at the Yellowstone County Fair. She also loved to read and do crossword puzzles.
Joyce was a very thoughtful, caring and loving person and will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by her son, Fred Schneider; husband, Tony Schneider; brother, Cal Kepler, Jr.; and a grandson, Ryan. Joyce is survived by three daughters, Valerie (Toln) Schneider of Beaverton, Ore., Margret Abbott of Poplar and Diane (Darold) Ruff of Billings; one son, Richard (Pat) Schneider of Billings; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Cremation is planned and a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, at the Smith Downtown Chapel, 925 S. 27th St.

HAYS - Kenneth W. Kerbs Sr., 85, died Sept. 22, 2007, at the A.J. Merrick Manor, in Fremont, Neb.
He was born Oct. 2, 1921, in Otis, the son of Alexander and Anna Marie Moore Kerbs. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in WWII. He moved to Fremont, Neb. in 1996. He was in the automotive and oil drilling supply business, an electronic equipment salesman and was a merchandise manager for an Alco store in Colorado Springs, Colo.
On August 11, 1962, he married Pollyanna ENSIGN, in Wichita, she survives.
Other survivors include: two sons; two daughters; one sister; Bertha Pokorny, Hays; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cline's Mortuary, Hays. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. A private family inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials will be determined by the family at a later date.

Goetz, Marcella "Marce" J., 86, loving homemaker, died Saturday, May 5, 2007. Marce was born in St. Leo, KS, July 15, 1920, and married George GOETZ January 29, 1945. Rosary at 7:00 P.M. LAUREL - On Aug. 12, 2007, Edward Kindsfater went to be with the Lord in the arms of his family, due to natural causes.
Ed was born Dec. 18, 1914, the middle child of Andrew and Margaret (Bott) Kindsfater of Rocky Ford, Colo. The family later moved to Laurel, where he married the love of his life, Martha KEHM, on Dec. 7, 1940. Together, they raised three daughters. Ed went to work on the Northern Pacific Railway in 1944 and retired in 1974 with the Burlington Northern. His retirement days were spent fishing and riding his bike, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren whom he loved so much.
Ed is survived by his wife, Martha of Laurel; his children, Jane Crawford of Portland, Ore., Elaine (Phil) Nichols of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Nancy (Jay) Edwards of Laurel; brother Herb (Betty) Kindsfater of Laurel; grandchildren Scott, Quinn, Travis, Jeff, Chad, Ecko, Joseph, Maggie, Britni and Eric; great-grandchildren Carsyn, Dylan, Emmalyn, Rose-Marie; as well as several nieces and a nephew. Mr. Kindsfater was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Marie, Alex, Bill and Peggy.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 5 to 9 p.m., at the Remington Letcher Memorial Chapel of Laurel, 420 19th Ave. West. CHENEY, Wash. - Elsie E. (Kinsfather) Chapman died on Monday, Sept. 4, 2007, in Cheney, nested in the love of her beloved family. Born on Nov. 5, 1912, in Billings, Elsie was a lifelong Montanan, spending her formative years on the family farm (the Evergreen Farm) west of Billings. She was the surviving child of the six children of John and Helena Kinsfather. Brothers Harry, Walter, Johnny and Earl and sister Julia preceded her in death.
During the '40s, '50s, and early '60s, she and her husband Jack CHAPMAN operated first the Pitchfork Bar Dude Ranch outside of Cody, Wyo., and then the 4K Dude Ranch in Dean, Mont. She was the ultimate hostess, winning friends and admirers nationwide. Mom never finished the book she was "always going to write" - a book on dude ranching - most especially an extended chapter on "cooks I have known." Knowing her sense of humor, it would have been a rib buster. Her lifelong gifts to her children Skip, Brad and Candy, niece/daughter Joyce Cernohlavek and to her extended family included her sense of humor, love of family, sense of responsibility and an acute sensitivity for the feelings of others, not to mention her fantastic recipes and love of flowers.
In her later years, she was a homemaker living in Absarokee and Billings, spending many hours as a Pink Lady volunteer in local hospitals, card player and tireless gardener at her home. Following in the tradition of her much-loved father John, Elsie was an extraordinary gardener who willingly shared her knowledge and her flower gardens with family and friends. She anticipated every spring to once again work the soil and nurture a bountiful, colorful garden. Her last years were spent with her family in Spokane.
Her cherished grandchildren are Erika Chapman, Jennifer Hall, Kyle Strauch, Kathleen Sliger and Lara Chapman; and six great-grandchildren, John Henry Sliger, Brandon Hall, Kristina Duncan, Kimberly Duncan, Michael Strauch and Pruedence Strauch.
A viewing will be held on Friday, Sept. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Dahl Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Interment will immediately follow the service.

Mary Lou Ruff, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to meet her Lord and Savior on April 17, 2007, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 9, 1928, in Morganville, Kan., to Charles and Ruth Kisby. Mary Lou was the third oldest of six children.
She graduated from high school in Clifton, Kan., in 1946, and moved to Billings in 1948, where she was employed at the Billings Laundry. On July 10, 1948, Mary Lou met her future husband, John (RUFF), during a blind date. They were married on June 24, 1950, and enjoyed 56 wonderful years together. During that time, they had three children: Stephen, David and Nannette. For the past recent months, Mary Lou resided at the Butterfly Homes, working hard at recovering from a stroke well enough to enable her to return home.
Mary Lou enjoyed painting, sewing and crafts of all sorts. She volunteered at a number of places, such as South Park Senior Center, and was a member for over 50 years at the Pilgrim Congregational Church, where she was baptized. She really enjoyed the company of her grandchildren, traveling and sight-seeing, camping, gardening and visiting with friends and relatives.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband, John; and her three children, Stephen (Janlee) Ruff, David Ruff, Nannette (James) Dahlberg; four grandchildren, Erich, Bryan and Daniel Ruff, and Kaitlyn Dahlberg. She is also survived by one brother, Larry Kisby; and three sisters, Dorothy Evango, Della Collette and Charlene Stites.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Butterfly Homes, as well as the staff at Fourth Floor TCU at the Billings Clinic for all their encouragement, support and loving care they provided to Mom. Viewing will be Thursday, April 19, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Smith Downtown Chapel, and prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 409 S. 36th. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The story of the establishment of the Hillsboro community came close to home recently, as I learned that my husband's great-great- grandparents were original owners of land on which the western part of Hillsboro now sets.
Abraham Klaassen and his wife Helena and family migrated to Manitoba, Canada, from southern Russia in the summer of 1874.
He was a member of one of three delegations which had traveled to St. Petersburg to unsuccessfully petition the Czar for continued exemption from military service.
Klaassen had been a successful businessman in Russia and had sold his property for a good price.
Not satisfied with Canada's harsh winter climate, Klaassen moved his family to Kansas the next summer. At that time, the town of Hillsboro did not yet exist. (It was platted in 1879.)
Upon their arrival in Kansas, Klaassen and fellow immigrant Peter Jost purchased two sections of land from the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad: Section 5 in Liberty Township and Section 33 in Risley Township.
There was no railroad in the area at the time, but the railroad company had been granted land by the State of Kansas, including 211,138 acres in Marion County. The land for sale included every odd numbered section and extended 23 miles north of the rail line which was built through Florence and Peabody to Newton in 1871.
The two sections purchased by Klaassen and Jost were catty-corner from each other. Section 5 in Liberty Township is located one mile west of present-day Hillsboro, south of 190th. Section 33 in Risley Township now includes the part of Hillsboro which lies between D Street and U.S.-56 and west of Ash Street.
Klaassen and Jost divided some of the land into smaller parcels which were sold to other settlers. They established homesteads in Section 5 of Liberty Township and helped establish the village of Alexanderfeld.
In typical Mennonite fashion, the farmsteads were established in long, parallel strips, with their village homes located along the stretch of road between sections 4 and 5 (see map).
The first school in the village was established in the Klaassen home in the fall of 1875. Abraham Harms, a neighbor, was the teacher.
A school soon was built at the west end of the village. It later also was used as a meeting place for the Church of God in Christ congregation which organized in the area.
(Known as the Alexanderfeld Church, the congregation remains in existence today and meets in a modern brick building at the south end of the former village.)
After numerous land sales transpired and farms expanded in the following three years, the village system came to an end and Alexanderfeld was no more.
Abraham Klaassen, who had been a church minister in southern Russia, joined the Gnadenau K.M.B. Church (now Parkview M.B. Church), and was elected to serve as a minister in 1879.
He lived in the original home built for his family in Alexanderfeld until his death in 1906. His remains and those of his wife and an infant son are buried in one corner of the property.
It makes one feel proud to have an ancestor who, along with many others, paved the way for the establishment of a prosperous community.

NORTH NEWTON - Emile J. Reimer, 84, died July 31, 2007, at Kidron Bethel Health Care, North Newton.
She was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Dan and Emma Schroeder Klassen. She was a beautician, owning her own shop in Newton from 1947 to 1993.
She belonged to and was a longtime member of Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton.
On June 25, 1950, she married Eldon REIMER at First Mennonite Church, Hillsboro. He died May 8, 1973.
Survivors include: two daughters, Denise Yoder, Lawrence, and Brenda Foster, Independence, Mo.; a sister, Dayle Unruh, Hillsboro; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Flickner; and a sister, Marjorie Peters.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Mennonite Church, North Newton, with Chaplain Amanda Rempel presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, with family receiving friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Kidron Bethel Village Mennonite Hall and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

NEWTON - Helga R. Schmidt, 61, died June 1, 2007, at her home, Newton.
She was born Oct. 31, 1945, in Osterberg, Germany, the daughter of John and Elisabeth Schmidt Klassen. She was a homemaker and registered nurse.
On July 31, 1962, she married Archie J. SCHMIDT. He survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Lisa Duerksen, Goessel, Valorie Everhart, Salina, and Cammie Van Arsdale, Buhler; a brother, Horst Schwarz, Germany; four sisters, Gesda, Margot, Margaret, and Olga, all of Germany; seven grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Newton, with the Rev. Sheree Boman presiding. There will be no visitation. Private burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

HILLSBORO - Lillian Sara Plett, 92, died June 1, 2007, at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.
She was born April 9, 1915, in Lehigh, the daughter of Abraham S. and Sara Schroeder Klassen. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church.
On Aug. 28, 1938, she married Cornelius F. PLETT in Springfield. He died in 1989.
Survivors include: a son, Philip K., Huron, S.D.; three daughters, Mary Rosfeld, Goessel, Ruth Seibel, Hesston, and Alice Jean Regier, Goessel; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Adam Klein, 79, Baptist Home for the Aged, died in the home Sunday morning. He had resided there for the past two years. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Zion Lutheran church. The Rev. Norman Brauer will officiate assisted by the Rev. Vernon Harley of New Salem. Burial will be made in the Fairview cemetery.
Born on Jan. 11, 1872, Mr. Klein was married to Katherine EHNES on Oct. 7, 1896. He settled near Washburn in 1913, where he farmed. In 1933 he retired and moved to Bismarck. He also farmed in the Wilton and Regan vicinities.
In addition to his widow, Mr. Klein leaves one son, William Klein, 914 Thirteenth St., and two brothers, Simon Klein, 522 Twelfth St., and Jacob Klein, 514 Twelfth St.
Two daughters and two sons preceded him in death. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran church. The body is at the Boelter funeral home.

Adam Klein, 94, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center and formerly of 809 N. 16th St., died Oct. 1, 1987, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at a0 a.m. Monday at the nursing home chapel, with the Rev. John H. Nicholai officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Mr. Klein was born June 29, 12893, the son of Simon and Elizabeth Scholl, Klein, in Odessa, Russia.
His family came to the United States and settled in South Dakota. They later moved to Bismarck.
He enlisted in the Army in 1917 and served in France during World War I. He received he Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, the St. Mihiel Medal, the General Pershing Medal and other commendations.
He returned to Bismarck and railroad jobs. He also worked as a security guard during construction of the Garrison Dam, the State Industrial School and the Amoco Oil Refinery at Mandan. He married Eugenia SCHMIDT March 32, 1941, at Jamestown. They have lived in Bismarck since 1954. He has been a resident of the nursing home the past four years. He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of World War I.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Ernest, Friendswood, Texazs, and Milton, Puyallup, Wash.; daughter, Mrs. Leo (Louise) Talbot, Puyallup, Wash.

KINGMAN - Clarence Albert Klein, 81, died Nov. 9, 2007, at Kingman Community Hospital.
He was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Enid, Okla., the son of Clarence and Elsie Hart Klein. A resident of Kingman, he was a retired fabrications plant manager for Christopher Steel, Wichita, and was the owner and operator of Klein's Carpet Cleaning, Kingman.
He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On April 13, 1979, he married Martha A. KNOBLAUCH in Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Judy Albright, Kingman; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Ann; four brothers; four sisters; and a great-grandson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman, with Father James Weldon presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the family present from 4 to 5 p.m. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.

ATWOOD -- Cody Daniel Klein, 17, Atwood, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007.
Cody was born Dec. 11, 1989, in McCook, Neb. He was a student at Rawlins County High School.
Survivors include a brother, Heath of Atwood; and his parents, Douglas and Jan, of Atwood.

Funeral services for the Rev. Daniel Klein, 66, pastor of the McClusky Baptist church were held in that city Monday.
The Rev. Klein will be remembered in this area as former pastor of the Germantown Baptist church east of Fessenden. Mrs. Albert Reddig of Cathay is a daughter.
The Rev. Emanuel Broeckel of Bismarck officiated. Burial was at Cathay. The Rev. Mr. Klein died Wednesday enroute to a Bismarck hospital, four hours after being stricken by a heart attack.
Born at Odessa, Russia, Oct. 21, 1889, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Klein. The family came to the U. S. in 1907, settling at Ellendale, N. D. and moving in 1909 to Washburn, N. D.
He married Paulina KECK July 20, 1913, and the same year he began studying for the ministry in Baptist Theological Seminary, Rochester, N. Y. Later, he homesteaded in Montana.
He served pastorates in Montana, South Dakota, Texas, Oklahoma and Iowa, before going to Beulah, N. D. Later he was pastor at Germantown, near Cathay, and was superintendent of a Baptist home for the aged in Phildaelphia, Pa., before coming to McClusky.
Besides his wife he leaves a son, the Rev. Ernest E. Klein of Lawrence, Kan.; four daughters, Mrs. Albert E. (Freida) Reddig, Cathay, Mrs. Albert (Ruth) Kranzler, Brookings, S. D., Mrs. Robert (Esther) Wheeler, Dallas, Texas and Mrs. Eric (Viola) Boese, of Bakersfield, Calif. His step-mother, Mrs. Ludwig (Elizabeth) Klein, Bismarck; a sister, Mrs. Daniel Bower, Turtle Lake, N. D.; five half-sisters, Mrs. Edwin Wacker, Turtle Lake, Mrs. Alfred Neuharth, Missoula, Mont., Mrs. Rose Zottnick, Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Adolf Brokofsky, Gold Bar, Wash., Mrs. Jacob Keck, Monroe, Wash.; 15 grandchildren. Elizabeth Klein was born Sept. 2, 1895, in Odessa, South Russia, came to the United States in 1911 wit an aunt and uncle and settled on a farm near Turtle Lake. She married Rudolph KLEIN, Aug 20, 1920l, in Rosenfeld. They farmed near Turtle Lake and Washburn until 1951,l then moved into Bismarck. Mr. Klein died in 1954. She worked at Bismarck Hospital as a nurse's aide until 1967, then moved to McClusky and entered the nursing home.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ted (Ileen) Bauer and Mrs. Reuben (Phyllis) Bauer, both of Turtle Lake, and Mrs. Albert (Betty) Schultes, Vesta, Minn.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Ollenburger, Mrs. Katie Neumiller, and Mrs. Rose Stacey, all of Bismarck; for step-brothers, Henry KLein, McKenzie, Louie and Herman Klein, both of Bismarck, and Ted Klein, Wing; and two stepsisters, both of Portland, Ore.

LACEY, Wash. - Emil F. Klein, 81, Lacey, died Wednesday. He was a former Turtle Lake and Bismarck,
North Dakota, resident. He was born on a farm south of there and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1923 and from the University of North Dakota in 1931. He was executive secretary of the welfare program in Ramsey County, N.D., and later in the state or Washington.
He is survived by his wife, the former Alma WAHL; one son, Robert, Lacey, and four brothers, Theodore, Sun City, Ariz., Richard, Bismarck Berthold, Hilo, Hawaii, and Paul, San Leandro, Calif.

Mrs. Freda Glum, 65, 1108 N. 15th Street, died of natural causes Sunday in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. The former, Fred Klein was born March 3, 1917, at Wilton, where she grew up and received her education. She married Arthur Buechler in 1935 in Bismarck where she was to live the rest of her life. He died in 1944. She married Charles Blum, Nov. 10, 1945. He died in 1968. She was active in the Bismarck Eagles Auxiliary. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Katherine Klein, Bismarck; five sons and five daughters.
NOTE: Freda is the daughter of Daniel and Katherine Bauer Klein.

Services for Ludwig "Louie" Klein, 85, Missouri Slope Lutheran Home, formerly 508 S. 10th Street, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Chapel, Bismarck. He died after a short illness Dec. 19, 1986, at a Bismarck hospital. Spring burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be at Eastgate's beginning Monday morning until time of services.
Mr. Klein was born July 7, 1901, the son of Simon and Elizabeth School Klein, in Odessa, South Russia. He moved with his parents and settled i South Dakota. He came to Bismarck in the 1920s, and married
Catherine LONGMUIR Feb. 25, 1932. He worked for Midwest Motors, retiring in 1964.
His wife died in 1959. He's been a resident of Missouri Slope for the past 18 years. He was well known in amateur baseball circles in Bismarck, and pitched against Satchel Paige. He was known as "Lefty".
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jerome (Della) Olson, Bismarck; two sons, James, St. Paul, Minn.; and Lewis (Butch), West Fargo; one brother, Adam, Bismarck; 10 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Marie Elizabeth Dillman, 88, of Scottsbluff, entered into Heaven at her home Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, with her daughter Beverly Dobrinski by her side.
Her funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff, with Pastor Jim Green officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Friends who wish may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon and at the funeral service. Marie was born Feb. 7, 1919 in Havelock, Neb. to Andrew and Bertha (Whitman) Klein. She grew up and received her education in the Scottsbluff area, and also worked for various businesses in the area. She married Reuben DILLMAN Dec. 31, 1936, in Scottsbluff, and she and Reuben farmed in the area until his retirement in 1977. She has resided in Scottsbluff since.
Marie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scottsbluff, the Lake Alice Project Club, the Sunflower Club and the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include her daughters, Beverly Dobrinski of Scottsbluff and Arlene Reizenstein of Antioch, Calif.; brothers, David Klein of Gering and Lester Klein of Scottsbluff; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Peter Klein, 85, Missouri Slope Lutheran Home, Bismarck, died today at the nursing home. Memorial services will be at the Baptist Home Chapel, Bismarck. The family prefers memorials to the International Peace Garden Music Scholarship Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Klein was born June 4, 1899, the son of Simon and Elizabeth Scholl Klein, in Odessa, Russia, came to the United States in 1904 and settled near Fairfax, South Dakota. He moved to Bismarck in 1918 and was employed by the Oscar H. Will Co., Capital Laundry and Golden West Laundry. He was a sales representative for the U. O . Colson Co., Paris, Ill., and Tasco Industries, Dallas for 20 years. Mr. Klein was a lifelong member of the Bismarck Baptist Church and was a choir director Sunday school superintendent and Teacher. In 1924 he married Bertha HEHR in Kulm. She died in 1977. He lived at the Baptist Home before entering Missouri Slope.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Kurt (Evelyn) Peters, and Mrs. James (Darlene) Fuehrer both of Bismarck; one son, Paul, Italy; two brothers, Adam and Louie, both of Bismarck; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.)

Pete" N. Klein, 80, Plainville, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at the Red Bud Village Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 28, 1927, in Hays to Peter N. and Althea (Marsh) Klein. He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School.
He married Laura M. WACHS on April 23, 1950, in Kensington. He worked for Bell Telephone for 47 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Mike Klein, Plainville, Mitch Klein, WaKeeney, and Mark Klein, Ellsworth; two daughters, Suzanne Veatch, Plainville and Trish Taylor, Hays; three brothers, Dale Klein, Golden, Colo., Dean Klein, Palastine, Texas, and Frank Klein, Keats; 17 grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.

Richard K. Klein, 88, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, formerly of 1105 North 18th Street, Bismarck, died April 21, 1994 in the nursing home. No services will be held at this time, however a memorial service will be held this summer. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Sunday, and 9 am-9 p.m. Monday, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.
Richard Klein was born Sept. 17, 19095 in McLean County, the son of Gottlob and Magdalena (Bibelheimer) Klein. He was raised in McLean County and graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1927. He then graduated from University of North Dakota in 1931. He continued his studies at the University of Dubuque and University of Montana. He received his masters degree in school administration from University of Southern California in 1945. He married Harriet GILBERTSON June 1, 1941 in Fargo.
Richard served in education for 44 years as a teacher, principal, and superintend and retired from Department of Public Construction after 26 years. The communities he served include Warwick, Maddock, Portal, Neche and Mott. One of Richard's significant accomplishments was serving as state chairman for the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, responsible for school accreditations., Throughout his career he was a member of numerous national and state associations. He also wrote many publication for the State of North Dakota education and administrative programs. He was involved with music throughout his life. He was president of the Bismarck-Mandan Civic Music Association. Richard directed seven productions of Handel's Messiah, and directed the church choir for more than 20 years. He was also past resident of the Bismarck Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet, Bismarck; one son, Cameron, Bismarck; two daughters Karen Cameron and her husband, Mitch Brook, Boston, Mass., and Colleen Jorchel and her husband, Erhard, Mannheim, Germany; and five grandchildren, Michael and Kristen Hores, and Charlotte, Julia, and Amrei Jorchel

Rudolph E. Klein was born in South Dakota on June 14, 1890. After serving in the Armed Forces for a number of years, he was discharged and was united in marriage with Elizabeth KLEIN on August 13, 1920. Four children were born to this union. They include: Neil, who died at 10 months; Ileen (Mrs.Theo Bauer), Turtle Lake; Phyllis (Mrs. Reuben Bauer), Turtle Lake; and Betty (Mrs. Albert Schultes), Olivia, Minnesota.

The funeral service for Vernon Klein was held on Friday May 25, 2007 at 10:00 am in the First Baptist Church with Reverend Tom Willoughby, Associate Pastor, officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of the Becker Funeral Home.
Mr. Klein was born July 16, 1924, to Gottfried and Emma Schoenhals Klein in Shattuck, Oklahoma. He graduated from Shattuck High and attended Oklahoma State University. Mr. Klein was a veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific and receiving a Purple Heart. He married Patricia G. (Kerrick) Klein on August 7, 1948 in Sayre, Oklahoma.
Mr. Klein and his family moved to Lawton in 1954. He was founder and owner of a transportation firm and a distributor of heavy duty trucks, farm and construction equipment. Mr. Klein made numerous contributions to charitable and civic organizations. He served as a Deacon of First Baptist Church and past Chairman of the Deacon Body, a past Lieutenant governor of Kiwanis for Oklahoma and Texas, a member of Kiwanis for over forty years and a past member of the board of the Museum of the Great Plains.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia G. Klein, three sons and daughters-in-laws; Thomas D. and Jean Klein of Vail, Colorado, Dick and Sally Klein of Lawton, Chuck and Stacy Klein of Clovis California, one daughter, K. Suzanne Cummings and Brett Drewry of Lawton, ten grandchildren: Anneliese Belisle, Lindsay Klein, Tanna Cummings, Connor Klein, Carter Klein, Austin Klein, Sierra Klein, Collins Klein, Tristsan Klein and Braxtan Klein, two great-grandchildren, Jay Dostal and Will Belisle, a brother and sister-in-law , Roy L. and Mary Klein of Fallbrook, California, a sister-in-law, Anne Kerrick of Lawton, and several nephews and nieces.
His parents, a son, James Vernon Klein and great-grandchild, Alex Dostal, preceded him in death.

Delores "Dee" Dausman, 59, of Cheyenne, died Aug. 30 (2007) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cheyenne.
Mrs. Dausman was born May 28, 1948, in Rock Springs and had lived here most of her life. She served in the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant during Desert Storm and retired in 1995 from the Wyoming Air National Guard as an aerovac supervisor.
Mrs. Dausman attended Miracle Valley Church. She is survived by her husband Ronald, whom she married Dec. 13, 1975, in Cheyenne; two sons, Billy Joe Dausman and Matthew Dausman, both of Cheyenne; three daughters, Cherie Steinmetz, Michelle Puente, and Amber Dausman, all of Cheyenne; a brother, Tom Kline of Salt Lake City; a sister, Peggy Vigue of Fresno, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Dausman was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Dausman; a brother, Robert Kline; and her parents.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel with Rev. Ed Fugate officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

OSHKOSH - Bernard "Bernie" L. Kling, 68, of Oshkosh, died Saturday morning, Dec. 15, 2007, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 21, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oshkosh with Pastor Brenda Pfeifly and Wayne Fraass, PMA officiating.
Cremation was held and there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The family requests no flowers and that memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Haven Hospice or to Camp Hope. Bernard was born Sept. 19, 1939, in Scottsbluff to Carl and Mildred (Bauer) Kling. He grew up and received his education in South Dakota and Scottsbluff, graduating from Scottsbluff High School in 1957. Bernard entered the United States Navy Oct. 3, 1957, and served until his honorable discharge on Nov. 16, 1961.
After the service, he returned to Scottsbluff where he worked construction for a short time. On Aug. 5, 1962, Bernard was united in marriage to Jean Ann LANCEJ in Scottsbluff.
Bernard attended VoTech in Milford, Neb., specializing in auto body repair. After school, he worked in Alliance at the Chevy and Ford garages. He became a patrolman for the Nebraska State Patrol in 1970. After 25 years of service, he retired from the state patrol in 1995. He then worked as a part-time deputy for the Garden County Sheriff's office for two years.
Bernard enjoyed restoring old cars and collecting coins. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #286 in Oshkosh and St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Oshkosh; sons, Mike Kling of Mitchell and Dave and his wife Kathleen Kling of Ogallala; grandchildren, Bailey and Riley Kling of Mitchell, Cyle, Dawson and Madison Kling all of Ogallala; brothers, Kermit, Gerald and Gordon all of Scottsbluff; sister, Nancy of Potter; brother-in-law, Tom and his wife Ann Lance of Lakewood, Colo.; and his mother-in-law, Helen Lance of Gering.

LAUREL - Emma K. Frank, 91, of Laurel, died at 3 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at the Billings Clinic.
Emma was born in Joliet on Sept. 21, 1916, to Louie and Katherine Knaub. She grew up in Joliet and Laurel and graduated from Laurel High School. She attended Saturday School at the First Congregational Church, where she studied the Bible in German and was confirmed and married. On Jan. 15, 1937, she was married to William "Bill" Frank. They had two children, Warren (Judy) of Billings and Marva Lou Piret of Laurel. Bill and Emma have four grandsons, Kevin (Barbara) Frank of Billings, Kelly (Julie) Frank of Phoenix, Chris (Gina) Frank of Kirkland, Wash., and Todd (Wende) Piret of Hawaii. They have two great-grandsons, Zac of Billings and Jared of Phoenix. She is also survived by one sister, Molly Glantz of Billings. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill in 1971; and five sisters, Elizabeth "Lizzie," Katie, Mary, Lydia and Helen.
We also want to give a big thank you to a very special sister-in-law, Janice Frank, for visiting her and staying with her in the hospital.
Emma loved her church in Laurel and attended for many years. She would pick up riders many Sundays and take them to church with her. She also liked to be with a group of women that would have lunch after church at the Laurel Golf Club. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Laurel for 91 years.
Funeral services will be conducted in Laurel at Smith's Funeral Chapel, 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14. Rev. Jerry Franks, a nephew and pastor at the Molt United Church of Christ, will officiate. Tribute: Born in Eaton to German Russian immigrants, Reinhart and Susanna Knaus, Robert Knaus spent his boyhood in Bracewell in Weld County, where his parents were farmers. He attended school in Bracewell.
Mr. Knaus and his wife, Catherine HELD, married Jan. 25, 1935, in Windsor and later moved their farming operations to Greeley. A daughter, Lorna Arlene, was born in 1936. In 1941, they moved to Snyder in Morgan County. A son Robert Wallace was born in 1947, and a second son, Stanley Eugene, was
born in 1952. The family continued to farm in the Snyder area until Mr. Knaus retired in 1979. They made their home in Fort Morgan until moving to Fort Lupton in 1996.
As a young man, Mr. Knaus became active in the life of his community and his church. He served as a school board member, a 4-H Leader, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, church board member, youth fellowship leader and lay preacher. At the time of his death, he was a member of the First United
Methodist Church of Fort Lupton.
Mr. Knaus died Monday at Centennial Health Care Center in Greeley.
Survivors: His wife, Catherine; daughter, Lorna; two sons, Robert and Stanley; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: His parents, five sisters, two brothers and a grandson.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Lupton. Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.

Gertrude Charlotte Hanshu was born August 10, 1918, In Lipscomb, Texas, to Jacob and Mollie (Peil) Koch. She graduated high school there in Lipscomb. Gertrude married Carl HANSHU on April 19, 1942, in Seguin, Texas wile Carl was in the service. They lived south of Darrouzett, Texas for 60 years, and moved to Shattuck five years ago They was member of the First Methodist church in Darrouzett.
Gertrude enjoyed painting, cooking, reading, loved the Lord, but her biggest enjoyment was being a grand-mother. Mrs. Hanshu died July 12, 2007, at Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and four sisters. She is survived by her husband, Carl, of the home; her son, Clinton Hanshu and wife Lanie of Shattuck; her daughter, Carla Bilderback and husband Terry of El Paso, Texas; her sister, Linda Wiederstein of Shattuck; six grandchildren: Brady Trenfield and wife, Kendra of Shattuck, Andrea Goodrich and husband, Barry of college Station, Amy Hancock and husband Jason of Nashville, Tenn,, Justin Fitz and wife Julie of Shattuck, and Lisa Platte and husband Dan of Dallas; seven great-grandchildren, Mollie, Ethan, Kole, Jarek, Jordan, Taylor and Jake. Ralph Koch, 66, Wells County farmer 43 years, died Friday in a Fargo hospital.
Funeral mass was held Tuesday at the St. Elizabeth Church in Sykeston, the Rev. A. J. Sommerfield officiating. Knott Funeral Home of Carrington was in charge.
Born in Russia, October 6, 1887, Mr. Koch was educated there and married Flora KUNZ in 1908. They came to this vicinity in 1910 and had farmed here since.
Besides Mrs. Koch he leaves four sons, Ralph Jr. of San Francisco, Lee of Cathay, N. D., Jack and John of Wichita, Kan.; five daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Betty) McMath, Mrs. Rudy (Rose) Anderson and Mrs. Oliver (Viola) Cifra, all of San Pedro, Calif. Mrs. William (Peggy) Von der Ahe, Las Vegas, Nev., and Mrs. Michael (Helen) Momner, Fort Wayne, Ind., a brother, Jack of Tacoma, Wash. and 18 grandchildren. CIMARRON - David Alvin Koehn, 97, died Nov. 27, 2007, at Homestead Health and Rehabilitation in Garden City. He was born Oct. 11, 1910, at Alva, Okla., the son of David C. and Eva Schmidt Koehn. He was the last of 13 siblings. He was formerly of Cimarron, moving to Garden City in 2002. He worked for the Warner Ranch for 45 years a farm laborer. He belonged to Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Cimarron.
On Sept. 9, 1946, he married Edna Claudean KOEHN in Dodge City. She died Jan. 16, 2003.
Survivors include: two daughters, Claudia K. Rohrback, Cimarron, and Debbie K, Rojas, Garden City; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers; and six sisters.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cimarron Mennonite Church, with Ministers Curt Ensz and Wilbur Koehn presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home and 2 to 5 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be in Cimarron Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Garden City Community College Endowment Association Nursing Scholarship, in care of Montezuma Funeral Home.

HALSTEAD - Glenn Dale Koehn, 76, retired Dillon's pharmacist, died Monday, (April 2, 2007) at Halstead Place Assisted Living Center. He was born Dec. 25, 1930, in Lakin, the son of William H. and Laurine Tina Becker Koehn.
When Dale was a young boy the family moved to Halstead, where he received his education, graduating from Halstead High School. As a young man, Dale witnessed his mother's concern for lost souls and after attending some gospel tent meetings he felt his need of a Savior and committed his life to God. Recently he attended First Presbyterian Church in Halstead.
He graduated from Grace Bible Institute with a bachelor's degree and earned a degree from the University of Kansas school of pharmacy in 1962. A pharmacist for 45 years, he worked in Dallas, Houston, and Miami. Dale moved back to Halstead 10 years ago, working in area Dillon's stores. He retired from Dillon's store No. 25, Hutchinson.
Dale served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army. In his first tour, he volunteered to be in a test of the atomic bomb at the atomic proving grounds. He served his second tour in Germany as an operations staff sergeant and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.
While living in Miami, he met a young couple, Bob and Jodi Stevens, and took them into his home as his own family.
Survivors include brothers, Wayne and wife, Gloria Koehn, Ulysses, Gerald "Jerry" and wife, Dorene Koehn, Mountain View, Mo., Robert Stevens and Dale's godsons, Robert Jr., William and Jesse Stevens, Peabody.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Innes, Kenneth, and Franklin Koehn; an infant sister, Billie Elaine Koehn; and Jodi Stevens.
Committal service will be at 9 p.m. Thursday in Halstead Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Halstead, with the Rev. Kent Adrian presiding. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the church or to Halstead Place Assisted Living Center, both in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.

MOUNDRIDGE - Hazel Unruh, 87, died May 21, 2007, at Moundridge Manor.
She was born Feb. 5, 1920, in McPherson County, the daughter of John C. and Eva Koehn Koehn. She was a Moundridge resident six years moving from Versailles, Mo. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Beulah Mennonite Church, Rural Versailles, Mo.
On May 15, 1938, she married Homer UNRUH in Scott County. He died June 20, 2002.
Survivors include: one son, John H. Unruh, Rio Verde Goias, Brazil; two daughters, Wilma Jane Unruh, Versailles, Mo., and Naomi Ruth Williams, Wallace County; two sisters, Rose Yost, Moundridge, and Evelyn Dyck, Hesston; 12 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Beulah Mennonite Church, Rural Versailles, Mo. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Moundridge Manor and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home. Burial will be in Beulah Mennonite Church Cemetery, Rural Versailles, Mo.

MOUNDRIDGE - Hilda L. Koehn, 90, died Oct. 24, 2007, at Memorial Home, Moundridge.
She was born Feb. 28, 1917, in McPherson County, the daughter of Edward H. and Annie Koehn. She was a lifetime resident of McPherson County. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to the Lone Tree Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Galva.
Survivors include: two brothers, Brinton M. and Wesley J., both of Moundridge; three nieces; and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Elvin W.

FORT DODGE - Howard D. Koehn, 77, died April 11, 2007, at the Kansas Soldiers Home, Halsey Hall, Fort Dodge.
He was born July 16, 1929, in Greensburg, the son of John and Liggia Nightengale Koehn. A longtime Dodge City resident, he worked numerous jobs including many years as a truck driver for Broce Manufacturing, Dodge City, and Crust Buster, Spearville.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On Feb. 6, 1976, he married Patricia J. KONRADE in Cimarron. She died July 17, 2005.
Survivors include: a daughter, Tammy Koehn, Dodge City; three brothers, Rodney, Montezuma, Robert, Greensburg, and Sylvan, Newport News, Va.; and two sisters, Hilma Rogers, Gainesville, Ga., and Margaret Boehs, Leland, Miss.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clinton and Willis; and a sister, Ruby Hopkins.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Dodge City Mennonite Church, with Pastor Richard Koehn presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. MONTEZUMA - Jabez Owen Koehn, 31, died May 8, 2007, as a result of a drowning accident in Quitman, Texas.
He was born on Dec. 3, 1975, in Dodge City, the son of Roger L. and Judy R. Holdeman Koehn. He attended the Montezuma Mennonite Christian School and graduated from the eighth grade in 1990. He was employed as a painter for Montezuma Manufacturing Inc.
He had attended Montezuma Mennonite Church.
On June 9, 1996, he married Lisa HERNANDEZ in Liberal. She survives.
Other survivors include: his parents; a grandmother, Hazel Holdeman, Buhl, Idaho; a son, Myson Sean, Scott City; one daughter, Merit Dawn, Scott City; two brothers, Karsten Paul and Vincent George, Montezuma; and a sister, Heidi Rose, Montezuma.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul Holdeman and George and Mae Koehn.

GALVA - Jacob V. "Jake" Koehn, 87, died Nov. 3, 2007, at Moundridge Manor.
He was born Sept. 16, 1920, in Canton, the son of Ben C. and Katie Nichols Koehn. A lifetime resident of the Galva area, he was the owner and operator of the Galva Cash Service Station for 37 years.
He belonged to Lone Tree Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Galva.
On Dec. 7, 1941, he married Betty J. Mastre in rural Galva. She survives.

OSBORN, Mo. - Reuben Koehn Jr., 67, died Aug. 18, 2007, at his home.
He was born Oct. 12, 1939 in Scott City, the son of Reuben and Della Nightingale Koehn. He was a former Halstead resident and lived in Osborn, Mo., for 13 years. He retired from the division of facilities maintenance for the state of Missouri.
On April 4, 1959 he married Edith SMITH in Sedgwick. She died Jan. 27, 1997.
Survivors include: a son, Randy Koehn, Lathrop, Mo.; two daughters, Teresa Reece, Rozel, and Sherry Mendenhall, Wichita; two brothers, LaVern and Jim Koehn, both of Halstead; three sisters, Wanda Koehn, Burns, Shirley Becker, Halstead, and Judy Nightingale, Galva; and eight grandchildren.

BOZEMAN, Mont. - Stan R. Koehn, 53, died July 17, 2007, at his parents home, Newton.
He was born Aug. 26, 1953, in Newton the son of Paul Harry and Fern Doris Epp Koehn. A resident of Bozeman, Mont., formerly of Newton, he owned the Vac-Shack's, Casper, Wyo., and Bozeman.
On Dec. 18, 1971, he married Nancy J. PAULEY in Newton. She survives.

He was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Montezuma, the son of Pete T. and Mary Unruh Koehn. He was a lifetime area resident. He belonged to Cimarron Mennonite Church.
On April 22, 1945, he married Pauline B. NIGHTENGALE in Montezuma. She survives.

Florence Mae (Koenig) Luckey - April 10, 1912 - June 16, 2007
Florence M. Luckey, 95, a longtime resident of Sterling, died June 16, 2007, in Thornton, due to complications of old age.
Graveside memorial services and burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
Mrs. Luckey was born April 10, 1912, to Jacob Edward Koenig and Ethel Jane (Dickerson) Koenig in Sterling. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1929.
In 1932, she married Roy Leo LUCKEY, a banker. In the years prior to his death in 1970, they lived in Sterling and were active in the Catholic Church. After her husband’s death, Mrs. Luckey moved to Boulder to be near her children.
After a 23-year period in Boulder, Mrs. Luckey moved to Westminster. In 2002 she moved to Northglenn, to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She was the proud grandmother of 27 grandchildren and the very delighted great-grandmother of 40 and great-great-grandmother to 23. Grandmother was a good friend and confidant to her grandchildren, and nothing gave her more joy than to spend time with the great-grandchildren.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Loretta and her husband Jerry of Northglenn; her son, Dick and his wife Pat of Aurora; her son, Bill and his wife Heather of Rockville, M.D.; her son, Dennis and his wife Linda of Westminster; her son, Joe and his wife Mara of Westminster; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grand-children. Mrs. Luckey was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; daughter, Mary Ellen; son, Tom; her parents; and her brother, Perry “Bunk.”

Eva Loena Hummel was born Aug. 9, 1922, to parents William and Zella (Tennant) Koening in Gettsburg, S.D. Eva was educated at Osmond Public School and graduated from the 12th grade. On May 22, 1942, Eva married Myron HUMMEL.
Eva worked as a housewife and bookkeeper for her husband, Myron.
Survivors include two children, Larry and his wife LaVonne Hummel of Osmond,
and Wayne and his wife Connie Hummel of Fremont; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, Elvin Koening and his wife, Adene of Lincoln.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, husband Myron and a son, Richard.

RUSSELL - Violet D. Mai, 76, died Oct. 14, 2007, at Wheatland Nursing Home, Russell.
She was born Jan. 6, 1931, in Ransom, the daughter of John and Martha Snyder Kraft. She graduated from Ransom High School and Fort Hays College. A Russell resident, she was a schoolteacher for 42 years, retiring in 1996.
She belonged to St. Johns Lutheran Church, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and VFW, the Sunflower Polka Club, the Midwestern Polka Club and Polka of A's Club.
On June 18, 1950, she married Alexander MAI in Russell. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, John R., Naperville, Ill.; a brother, Delbert Kraft, Cheyenne, Wyo.; a sister, Karen Emerson, Augusta; and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Delmer Kraft; and two sisters, Ruby Allen and Evelyn Carr.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Johns Lutheran Church, with Pastor Roger Dennis presiding. RANCHESTER, Wyo. - Donald Edward Kramer, 71, of Ranchester, passed away on Sept. 13, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Donald was born on Oct. 25, 1935, to Andrew and Amelia (Miller) Kramer in Sheridan, Wyo.
Donald attended the University of Wyoming and received his B.S. in Engineering. Upon graduating from college, he worked for Burlington Northern Railroad before starting his career as an assistant manager/ bookkeeper with V.C. Johnston Lumber Co. in Ranchester. He enjoyed fishing, tying flies, hunting, gardening, woodworking, leathercrafting, the outdoors and the lumber business.
Donald is survived by his two daughters, Dawn Kramer of Ranchester and Kristi and her husband, Darrell Petersen, of Riverton; his two grandchildren, Brandi and Austin Petersen of Riverton; a brother, Robert of Sheridan; four nieces and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gary and Richard.
Cremation has taken place with memorial services being held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 17, at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor William Heine officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made in Donald's name to the Ranchester Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Cowboy State Bank, Elizabeth Bacon, Box 789, Ranchester, WY 82839.

ABILENE -- Clyde F. Krause, 79, Abilene, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007
Mr. Krause was born Sept. 26, 1929, in the Latimer community. He was vice president for Ehrsam Company until 1969 and worked for Abilene Machine.
He was preceded in death by a son, Martin; and a great-grandchild
Survivors include his special friend, Donna Davis of Enterprise; three daughters, Susan Burdick of Hutchinson, and Michelle Sneath and Cindy Stone, both of Abilene; two sons, Gregg and Jeff, both of Hutchinson; two sisters, Laura Murry of Topeka and Elsie Rock of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Robert of Woodbine; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Danner Funeral Home, Abilene.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Albert Dean Krehbiel, 75, died June 21, 2007, at his home.
He was born July 18, 1931, in Lakin, the son of Albert C. and Mary K. Flickinger Krehbiel. He was a former resident of Pretty Prairie. He graduated from Pretty Prairie High School, attended Bethel College and he graduated from Mexico City (Mexico) College. He worked in Foreign Service for the Department of State from 1959 to 1995 serving in several embassies, including Japan and Egypt. He served in the U.S. Army. He belonged to First Mennonite Church, Pretty Prairie. He married his wife, Mioko, in 1965 while serving at the American Consulate in Egypt. She survives. Other survivors include: one son, Christian, Williamsburg, Va.; one brother, Kenneth, Pretty Prairie; and two grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Mennonite Church, Pretty Prairie, with Pastor Lester Zook presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in First Mennonite Church Cemetery, Pretty Prairie. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, in care of Elliott Mortuary. Clinton J. Krehbiel, 87, died Nov. 28, 2007, at the Memorial Home in Moundridge.
C.J., as he was fondly called by all who knew him, was born Feb. 13, 1920, in McPherson, the son of Rudolf R. and Anna Stucky Krehbiel. He graduated from Moundridge High School in 1938. C.J. and Arlene LILLIA were married in Aug. of 1942 at the Fremont Lutheran Church Lindsborg. Shortly thereafter, C.J. joined the Navy and proudly served his country honorably in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1945. Upon returning home from the war, C.J. and Arlene made their home in Moundridge, where he and his father started the Big Chief Manufacturing Co. In 1950 the family moved the business to Hutchinson where they operated it together until 1961. In 1963 C.J. built the Starlight Roller Skating Center in Salina, and the family moved there in 1965. C.J. and Arlene managed the rink together until his retirement in 1984, when son Roger (Mary) took over the business, which remains in operation today. Upon retirement C.J. and Arlene remained in Salina until 2001, and for many years enjoyed traveling the country in their motor homes, meeting many lifelong friends along the way, and wetting a hook when and wherever possible. C.J.'s favorite "fishin spot" was Lake Fork, TX. In January of 2001 C.J. and Arlene moved back to their roots in Moundridge and became residents of Pine Village. In April of 2002 Arlene passed away, and at that time C.J. moved into the Krehbiel Apartments in Pine Village. On November 13, 2002, C.J. and Marie Dirks Ewy were married in the Moundridge U.M.C. and have made their home at the Krehbiel Apartments since then. Marie, of the home, survives.
C.J. was a member of the Moundridge United Methodist Church. During his years in Salina he was a member of the Church of the Cross and the Trinity U.M.C. When the family resided in Hutchinson he was a member of the 10th Ave. E.U.B. church. All of his
years of service to God included serving on various church boards, teaching Sunday school classes, and leading youth groups.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Carolyn (Fred) Schultz of Lake Quivira, a son, Roger (Mary) Krehbiel of Salina, a daughter, Ann (Rey) Torres of Ft. Worth, TX, and a son, John (Sissy) Krehbiel of Sabetha. C.J. is also survived by his step children, son Earl Ewy of Van Buren, AR, son Jerry (Ruth) of Overland Park, daughter Shirley (Walt) Wenger of Wichita, and son Arlen (Karen) Ewy of Wichita. In addition to his children, C.J. is survived by a total of 17 grand children, 18 great grand children, numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be at 10:30 am on Saturday Dec. 1 at the Moundridge United Methodist Church, the Rev. Fay Wagner presiding. A Military burial will follow the service at the Mound Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday Nov. 30 at the Memorial Home Chapel. NEWTON - Kenneth Krehbiel, 80, died Aug. 27, 2007, at Kansas Christian Home, Newton.
He was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Hutchinson, the son of Albert and Mary Flickinger Krehbiel. He was a music instructor at Moundridge High School, retiring in 1971. He then worked for Boeing Aircraft as a technical writer until his retirement. He attended Bethany College, graduated from Bethel College, and earned a master's degree in music from Wichita State University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
In 1951, he married Lynette WALTNER. She died in 1999. In 1978, he married Lucy REAVIS. She died in 2004.
Survivors include: two sons, Ken, Washington, D.C., Keith, Stanford, Calif.; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Dean; and a sister, Pearl Stucky.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Mennonite Church, Pretty Prairie, with Pastor Lester Zook presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m., with the casket open from 1 to 4 p.m. and the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. Burial will be in First Mennonite Cemetery, Pretty Prairie. Memorials may be sent to Kansas Christian Home-Legacy of John Fund, in care of the funeral home.

LAUREL - Randy Wayne (Harv) Krug passed away on Dec. 17, 2007, at the St. Vincent Healthcare.
Randy was born on Sept. 22, 1954, to William and Marlene (Goetz) Krug. He received his education the in Laurel schools. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
On Aug. 11, 1979, he married Vicki BUTTS. Together, they had three sons: Tommy, Derek and Dustin James.
He worked his whole life in the family business, Krug & Sons Sand & Gravel.
He was preceded in death by his three sons, Tommy, Derek and Dustin James.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki; parents; two brothers, Chuck and Mike (Carolyn) Krug; his mother-in-law, Charlotte Diede of Billings; and his father-in-law, Dale Butts of Oregon; sisters-in-law, Kay Butts and Sandra Sievers; two nieces, Bridgett and Danielle Krug; two nephews, Jeff Butts and Cody Marion.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 908 Fifth Ave., Laurel, with burial in the Laurel Cemetery. Memorials to one's choice.

HAYS - Almeda M. Scheck, 86, died May 16, 2007, at Hays Good Samaritan Center.
She was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Victoria, the daughter of Anton and Pauline Dreiling Kuhn. She was a lifetime resident of Gorham, moving to Hays in 2000, she was a homemaker. She belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Gorham.
On May 25, 1943, she married Raymond F. SCHECK in Victoria. He died Oct. 20, 1990.
Survivors include: two sons, Alan, Hays, and Roger, McAlester, Okla.; a daughter, Roxann Hoffman, Norton; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dominic, Edwin and Emil Kuhn; eight sisters, Mathilda Goetz, Celestina Toepher, Sister Almeda Kuhn CSA, Amanda Karlin, Sister M. Antholine Kuhn, Severina Kuhn, Pauline Obholz, Basilia "Lilly" Walters and an infant sister, Margaret Kuhn.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Gorham. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, Gorham. Rosella Dechant, 83, Hays, died Friday, July 6, 2007, at St. John’s of Hays Nursing Home.
She was born May 20, 1924, in Ellis County to Peter and Josephine (Wasinger) Kuhn.
She married Nicholas DECHANT on March 19, 1946, in WaKeeney, He preceded her in death Sept. 8, 2000. She was a housekeeper at Hadley Hospital.
She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Eagle’s Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Jim Dechant and Larry Dechant, both of Hays, and Nick Dechant Jr., Pamona, Calif.; three daughters, Twila Scribner, San Diego, and Sharon Dechant and Janice Schmidt, both of Hays; two brothers, Dale Kuhn and Eugene Kuhn, both of Portland, Ore.; four sisters, Irene Zecka, Portland, Ore., Mary Bradley, Minnesota, and Katie Leiker and Zelma Kuhn, both of Hays; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Munjor. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine.
A VFW Auxiliary service will be at 5:30 p.m. today, followed by a parish vigil service at 6 p.m., both at the funeral home.

TORRINGTON, Wyo. - Charles S. Kuntz, 93, died Dec. 12, 2007, at Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be Monday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and briefly following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com.
Charlie was born June 17, 1914, in Billings, Mont. the son of Phillip and Regina (Bohlender) Kuntz. They lived in Rapid City, S.D., Scottsbluff and Minatare, Neb. and Lingle, Wyo. before moving to Torrington. He attended schools in Sunflower, Scottsbluff, Lingle, and Torrington. He farmed up until the start of World War II. He married Eleanor Amen Aug. 17, 1939, in Torrington and in 1942 he started work at Holly Sugar as a mechanic. He worked there until 1977 when he retired.
Charlie was a member of the Moose Lodge and loved to garden, fish, and was a coin collector.
Survivors include his wife Eleanor of Torrington; sons, Steve Kuntz and his wife Vi of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Ron Kuntz of Laramie, Wyo.; daughters, Joyce Baker and her husband Larry of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Lynne Kuntz of Scottsbluff; sister, Regina Hageman of Ft. Collins, Colo.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Pete Kuntz and Phil Kuntz; and sisters, Emma Haduck and Freida Frazier.
KUNTZ, Ruth Ann

Ruth Ann (Kuntz) Buckalew, age 82, of Billings, formerly of Forsyth, died suddenly on Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Deaconess Hospital Emergency, after falling ill at home.
Ruth was one of 12 children born April 23, 1925, to John and Elizabeth Kuntz on the homestead west of Forsyth.
On March 23, 1941, Ruth married Floyd "Elmer" BUCKALEWin Forsyth. To this union, six children were born. Elmer and Ruth spent the first years of their marriage in Forsyth, where five of their six children were born, Elmer working in the bakery and on the railroad and Ruth being a homemaker and mother. In 1954, they moved to Glendive, where Elmer worked again as a baker and Ruth worked at several jobs to supplement the family income. In 1957, Ruth and Elmer took over the management of the bakery and restaurant in Glendive. When their contract ended in 1959, they chose not to renew but decided to move to Roundup to operate another bakery. This business endeavor, however, turned out not to be profitable, so in 1960, they moved to Billings, where they both found employment.
Ruth and Elmer both looked forward to summer as one of their favorite pastimes was fishing and picnicking. Ruth also looked forward to holidays, where all the kids and grandkids would come and she would have big family meals. Mom was a great cook, so she never had to worry about there being an empty chair at the table or having to look for place to put the leftovers as there weren't very many.
Elmer died of a heart attack in 1973 and Ruth struggled for the next few years trying to make ends meet as she still had a teenage son, Mike, living at home.
In 1981 Ruth met John Peters and began the next phase of her life. They lived in Miles City and spent a lot of time gardening, crocheting (Ruth), market watching (John) and playing cards. They then started traveling and went to a great many of the states, including Alaska, Texas, California, Washington, Indiana, Kansas and Nevada and many places in between.
John passed away in 1997 and Ruth stayed on in Miles City for a while, but ultimately decided to move back to Billings to be closer to her family. She spent the past few years traveling, working on ceramics and entering pieces in shows with her daughter-in-law Alice and playing at the casinos and just enjoying life in general.
Ruth will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Elmer and John; children, Floyd Jr. and Sandra; and infant daughter. All of her siblings preceded her in death except two of her sisters, Betty of California and Suzy of Kalispell.
She is survived by her children, Ruth Wickstrom, Puyallup, Wash., Betty (Gary) Hudson, Roundup, George (Lori) Buckalew, Colstrip, Mike (Alice) Buckalew, Billings, Paulette Buckalew (daughter-in-law), Newburgh, Ind. Ruth also has 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
