Eleanor Julia Spiess, Hays, age 87, passed away Wednesday evening Aug. 27 (2008) in Victoria. Born on March 18, 1921 in Ellis to Frank and Mary (Turek) Neuburger. Married Ambrose PFEIFER in 1943 as he left for service in World War II. He died in service to his country in 1944. She married John L. SPIESS in 1951. Their son, Jerome was born in 1953. John and Eleanor gratefully shared 41 years of married life together until he passed away in 1992. She is survived by daughter, Sharon Cohoon of Huntington Beach, CA; a son, Jerome of Hays; daughter, Carol Weigel of Lawrence; and sons, Joseph of Overland Park and Jim of Wichita; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John C. Spiess, two brothers, William (World War II) and Frank.

NUSS, JULIA ELIZABETH (NEUVERT) 1848-1935 - MRS. JOHN FREDERICK NUSS - Mrs. John Frederick Nuss was born February 22nd, 1848 in East Russia, and passed away on Sunday morning May 26th, 1935 in the Old People's Home at Wellington, Kansas. She brought her age to 87 years, 3 months, and 4 days. In 1865 she was united in marriage to Mr. John Frederick NUSS. This union was blessed with 12 children of whom the father, four daughters, and one son preceded her in death. In 1887 the immigrated to America and made their home on a farm north of Canada, Kansas. She leaves to mourn her departure: five sons, two daughters, besides 46 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, with many relatives and friends. Note: Husband Johann Friedrick Nuss was born in Dobrinka, Russia to Johann Adam and Eva E. Nuss. His siblings that also came to America were Johann Georg (Geo J. Sr), Georg Peter, David G., and Katherine E. Nuss all who arrived in America settled first at Marion Co. Kansas then went to Blaine Co., Ok. These 5 siblings are the only known of 18 siblings who came to America.

She is survived by two sons: LeRoy of Ventura, California; and Elmo of Wilimington, California; one sister, Julia Widener of Louisburg, Kansas; one brother, David J. Nusz of Layton, Utah; a daughter-in-law Mrs. William Heffel; grandchildren: Diana Lieberkneckt, Kent Cooper, Donnna Bogner, Carl Cooper, James Heffel; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Note: Amelia was the daughter of David J. (Sr.) Nuss and Rosalie Virginia Stolberg. David Nuss was the son of Georg Friedrich Nuss(on Russian Lutheran church records in Dobrinka(went by John Freidrick in US) and Katharine Elisabeth Feil. Rosalie the daughter of August Stolberg and Anna Nelson). Georg Friedrich Nuss was the son of Georg Christian Nuss and Sophia Elisabeth Weber) all three generations of Nuss were born in Dobrinka Saratov,Volga, Russia as was Amelia Nuss Heffel.

NUSZ, CARL 1894-1965 - OBITUARY - Carl Nusz, son of the late Henry and Katherine Nusz was born September 14, 1894 in Marion County, Kansas. At the age of four he moved with his family to Okeene. Married Eva RUSCH. From this union, seven children survive, 3 sons and 4 daughters: Raymond, Jim, Edna (Mrs. Albert Schnell), and Alice, (Mrs. Harron Irion) all of Okeene; Roy, Oklahoma City, Lena, (Mrs. Leonard Osmus) of Enid and Olinda (Mrs. Jim McBride) of Carpenter, Wyoming. Three brothers and two sisters have preceded him in death. He is survived by four brothers, Ed, Adam, Fred and Albert, all of Okeene; and one sister, Mrs. Ray Winter of Amarillo, Texas, an uncle Andrew Nusz, Okeene; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. WOODARD, MARTHA (NUSZ) 1902-1973 Mrs. Martha Nusz Woodard, 71, died late Tuesday morning

(1973). Born near Isabella and came to Enid in 1902. Married to Dan V. WOODARD Nov. 15, 1932. He preceded her in death in May, 1945. Survived by one brother, Dave Nusz, Elk City; three sisters, Mrs. John (Hannah) Hoffman, Enid, Mrs. Fred (Rachel) Schaffler, Hitchcock and Mrs. Leah Hanson, Modesto, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Note: Martha's parents were David G. Nusz and Julia Becker, both born in Dobrinka, Russia.

Services for Rachel Alice Hiebert, 83, at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. She was born March 17, 1899, at Isabella, the daughter of George Peter and Mary Katharina Nusz, and died Wednesday in her home. She and Elmer DUSBABECK were married.. They were the parents of a daughter. Her Husband preceded her in death. In 1926, she and Henry HIEBERT were married. She is survived by four sons: Herman of Wichita, Kansas; Raymond, of Sheldon, Missouri; Victor of Enid, Oklahoma; James of Buckeye, Arizona; three daughters: Mrs. Jack (Velma) Bernard; Mrs. Vernen (Ruth) Schaffer, and Mrs. Robert (Henrietta) Fleshman, all of Enid; a sister, Hannah Weber; a brother, Sam Nusz, both of Okeene; 20 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a granddaughter, and a great-great-grandson. Note: Rachel's parents were born in Dobrinka, Russia. ASHLAND WORKER DIES FROM ELECTROCUTION - ASHLAND - City workers here were saddened by the death of fellow employee Wayne Nusz, 53, on Thursday. Nusz, a line foreman, was working on electrical lines at the city baseball diamond when he come into contact with power lines shortly before noon Thursday. He was pronounced dead from electrocution later at Ashland District Hospital.

Woodrow is survived by his wife, Bertha Louise of the home, one son, Randel and his wife Jane; two daughters: Connee Boeckman and her husband Donald, and Lorree Nusz.
