His 2nd wife was Louise Koch (Mace) the widow of Stuart Garfield Mace. Marie's brother, Alfred Pelzl, had died just 5 weeks previously on January 6, 1921, from pneumonia, in Medicine Lodge, Barber Co., Kansas.

May 20, 1942 - One Barber county youth was killed and another seriously injured last Wednesday in a car accident on Highway No. 281 between here and Kiowa. The dead boy is Jack Rozelle, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Rozelle of Gerlane, and former Medicine Lodge high school student. Frank Pelzl, only other occupant of the car, is seriously injured. May 28, 1942 - Injuries received in a car accident Thursday May 16, brought death Monday noon to the second Barber county man involved in the wreck. He was Frank A. Pelzl, who died in the Galloway hospital as the result of a brain concussion.
NOTE: Frank A. Pelzl was a son of Alfred Pelzl and Catherine Schmidt.

He is survived by his wife Josephine (STAAB), four sons John and Clarence of Davenport, Iowa; Joe of Hays, and William Jr. now doing construction work for the government in Honolulu; and two daughters, Irene of Kansas City, Missouri, and Mrs. Lydia Ruder of Hays; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Note: William Pelzl was the son of Johan Franz Pelzl and Amalia Hornisher. There was some controversy as to where William was born. Some of the Federal Census show that he was born in Kansas, but Birth Certificate and World War I Draft Registrtation papers disclose he was born in Austria. He died 5 months after his mother.

Philomena Franz, 96, passed away at St. Joseph Carondelet Manor in Kansas City, Mo., on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008. Philomena was born in Munjor, Kan., on Dec. 31, 1911, and raised in Ness City, Kan. She was the daughter of Francis and Rosa (Kronawitter) Pfannenstiel. She married Otto FRANZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, in Nov. 1979, an infant son, William, in 1938, three brothers, Linus, Alfonse and Richard Pfannenstiel, two sisters, Mary Weilert and Anna Droste Harper, and a step-granddaughter, Vickie Nagy.
