Geneva F. Oblander (May 23, 1928 - February 9, 2009)
We are each one unique in GOD’S sight, I, Geneva, have decided to write my own obituary and reflect upon my life. Geneva (Eagon) Oblander was the fifth child, the second daughter, of Homer Orville and Elsie (Richardson) Eagon. I was born north of Gage, Oklahoma on May 23, 1928, but celebrated May 21st as my birthday. That is a long story that only close relatives know. On January 11, 1948, Geneva and ROBERT L. OBLANDER were married. To this union three children were born – Richard, Janice Marie, and Janet. Their two daughters died as infants. Several years later, Jack and Deborah joined our family.
Geneva was preceded in death by her daughters, Janice Marie and Janet; by parents, Homer and Elsie Eagon; brothers, Dennis, Herschel, and Orville; sisters, Alretta Eagon and Coeta Jackson. She is survived by her husband, Robert; by children, Richard Oblander and wife Linda of Shattuck, OK, Jack Oblander and wife Trish of Asher, OK, Deborah West and husband Bill of Newton, KS, and David Keeton of Colorado. She was loved by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lisa Fisher and husband Mark and children Liberty and Levi of Stillwater, OK, Michelle Woods and husband Joshua and children Ellery and Tead of Shattuck, OK, Stryder Oblander of Oklahoma City, OK, Yolanda Self and husband Chuck and children Ryan, Jake, Quentin, and Nathan of Newton, KS, Nikki Frauier and children A.J. and Tommy of Hutchinson, KS, Ian West and children Brandon and Tiffany of Newton, KS, Kyle Keeton of Laverne, OK, Franklin Keeton and wife Amanda and children Andrew and Isaac of Vici, OK, and Cody Keeton of Woodward, OK. Geneva is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Johnson and husband Melford of Wichita, KS and Lenora Williams and husband Robert of Duncanville, TX, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. John Eckerman, 38, died Wednesday from neck injuries received while wrestling with another Bridger man 10 days ago. Born in Russia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Eckerman. At the age of 1 year, he came with his parents to the United States. Married MISS REGINA THOMAS, who survives him. The mother, Mrs. Anna E. Eckerman, survives at Sheridan. Eckerman’s father is dead. Six children survive. They are John, Katherine, Dorothy, Margie, Marie and Florence, all living at the Bridger home. There are also surviving four sisters and seven brothers. Freda Eckhardt Fode, 89, died Jan. 13th, (2009).. Those important to me are: brother Leo Eckhardt, sisters Clara Hensley, Mae and Richard Sartorie, Irene Cook, Betty and John Strecker, Delores Luff, Alice and Andy Stene, special sister-in-law Violet Eckhardt and special friend Jose Godinez. The other siblings gone before me are Theodore Eckhardt, Helen Williams, Richard Eckhardt, Wilbur Eckhardt, Robert Eckhardt, Arthur Eckhardt and Agnes Eckhardt. Freda was born in Billings, Feb. 22, 1919, to Jacob Eckhardt and Katherine Heimbichner. Married EDWIN FODE . To that union were born two daughters, Agnes and Edna. Agnes is married to Roger Reich and they live in Surprise, Ariz. Edna is married to Robert Bussey, also of Surprise. Ed preceded her in death, Oct. 22, 2008. Freda has four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are: Major Christopher Reich, his wife Shannon and daughter Danielle. Chris will be serving in Iraq shortly. Mr. Frick died in July 2007. Besides her husband, Mrs. Frick was preceded in death by her two brothers, Albert and Reinhold "Dick" Eichhorst and her daughter Cheryl Ann. Survived by her remaining two daughters, Susan Frick Payne of Baltimore, Md. and Julia Rae Foster of Aurora, Colo., and her granddaughter Laura Michelle Foster, currently a law student at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
