Survived by his brothers, Luther Yakel of Wichita, Herbert Yakel of Springfield, Ohio; sister Viola Wiebe of Canon City, Co.; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth Yakel, Joyce Yakel, Mary Catherine Armstrong, Bernice Oswalk, and Dorothy Marasco.

Katherine Welsch, 96, died Saturday, June 6, 2009. Born Aug. 11, 1912 in Old Bolzer, Russia to Jacob and Anna M. (Kaiser) Yakel. Came to the United States from Winnipeg, Canada, Nov. 24, 1916 on the Canadian Pacific Railway. Married CHRIST WELSCH, JR. Christ preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1979. Survived by her daughter, Nancy (Norman) Gross, Mitchell; grand-daughter, Callie Gross, Gering; great grandchildren, Ethan and Elizabeth Blanchard and Nathan, Bridgette and Bethany Gross; great-great-grandchildren: Alyssa and Bailey; sisters; Florence Rau, Alvina Kufeldt and Caroline Rexus all of Scottsbluff, Norma Green, Gering, and Rose Bolzer, Mitchell and Brother: Dick Yakel of Scottsbluff.
