Leon's wife Kathleen died in 1979, leaving Leon and their 3 sons. In 1980, Leon married GAIL M. TROWBRIDGE, and together they had a daughter, Elizabeth, born in 1982. Gail had 3 daughters from a previous marriage, Lisa, Laurie, and Amy. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Gail Mary Heidebrecht; son, Glenn of Front Royal, Va.; daughters, Elizabeth Heidebrecht of Tallahassee, Fla., Laura J. Reid of Herndon, Va., Lisa M. Ira W. Hein, 86, of Hillsboro, died July 1 (2009) at Via Christi St. Francis Burn Unit, Wichita.

Born Dec. 8, 1922, to Henry and Tina (Duerksen) Hein in rural Hillsboro, he married HILDA SUDERMAN on March 14, 1944, in Hillsboro. He was a farmer and a rancher. His wife and a brother, Irvin Hein, preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, Rodney of Hillsboro; a brother, Emice of Hillsboro; a sister, Viola Reeves of Wichita; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services were 11 a.m. Monday at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro. The Rev. Dave Plett presided. There was a private burial. Memorials may be made to the church.

Ira William Hein was born to Henry and Tina (Duerksen) Hein, December 8, 1922. He passed away on July 1, 2009 at St. Francis Burn Center in Wichita from injuries in a farming accident. He was 86 years old. Married HILDA SUDERMAN. They celebrated their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries. In 1947 they were blessed with their only child, Rodney. RUSSELL — Vera F. Karst, 68, and wife of Gene Karst, departed this life on Aug. 20, (2009). Born south of Luray on May 28, 1941, to Ernest and Lavina (Bender) Homewood. She grew up with one sister, Lois Boyd, now of Russell, and three brothers, Ben Homewood, deceased, David Homewood of Russell and Rocky Homewood of Skiatook, Okla. Her first marriage was to RICHARD STEWART. This union was blessed with two children, Terry Lynn Stewart Branick and Brian (Clay) Stewart. Richard preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1966. Later married GENE KARST. Survivors husband Gene of the home; daughter Terry and Joe Branick of Russell; son Clay Stewart and wife Karen of Great Bend; six grandchildren, Misty, Dustin, Sunny, Westin, Desiree and Randi; four great-grandchildren, Macey, Micah, Maxson and Oliver; three stepsons, Steve and wife Deb of Russell, Audie and wife Carolin of Great Bend and Darrell and wife Denise of Towanda; five step-grandchildren, Deric, Marshall, Luke, Jared and Ashley, along with seven stepgreat-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her father, Ernest, and brother, Ben.

PARTRIDGE - Vera Schriever died Sept. 28, 2009. Vera Jean Horst was born the sixth child to John and Marie Horst on Feb. 4, 1936, in Oak, Neb. Married MYRON "MIKE" SCHRIEVER . Survivors include: husband Mike, of the home; two sons, Mark (Wantha) Schriever, Topeka, and Doug (Debra) Schriever, Partridge; daughter, Sandee (Mike) Bishop, Peculiar, Mo.; grandchildren, Eric (Kelly) Schriever, Edwardsville, KS, Scott Schriever, Wichita, Jenna Bishop, Kansas City, Mo., Curtis Schriever, Manhattan, Ks, and Bryce Bishop, Peculiar, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Eliza and Gabe Schriever, Edwardsville, Ks; sisters, Verna (Les) Brandt, Friend, Neb., Norma Walker, Winfield, Alabama, Lila (Gary) Honeycutt, Haven, and Donna (Russell) Genung, Deshler, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers, John (Janice) Horst, Bob Horst, and Alfred Horst, sisters, Evelyn (Eldred) Hinz, and Lillie (Don) Hofferber, and brothers-in-law, Gene Walker and Roger Dondlinger.

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. - Jack E. Huck, born June 16, 1938, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009. Survived by his wife of 25 years, LYNN (DAVIAU), Father to Jennifer (Travis) Monroe of Ethridge, Tenn., Tracy (Dennis) of Milwaukie, Ore., Amanda and Taylor, still residing at home; sisters MJ of Apache Junction, Ariz. and Vicki (Doug) Totel of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; brother-in-law to Cheryl (Dale) Macdonald of Falmouth, Mass., Tom (Pam) Daviau of Flanders, N.J., and Kathy (Bob) Nugent of Gary, Ill.; and son-in-law to Alice Daviau of Centerville, Mass. Was a grandpa to eight grandchildren, uncle to several nieces and nephews and loved by cousins and many friends. P receded in death by his parents, Jacob and Sarah Huck and infant sister, Betty Jean and father-in-law, Howard Daviau. He anticipated his annual trip back to his farm roots and German heritage in western Nebraska.

PRETTY PRAIRIE - Clarence "Dale" Huxman, 82, died Aug. 6, 2009. Born Nov. 20, 1926, at Pretty Prairie, the son of Albert L. and Lydia A. Schrag Huxman. Married BESSIE SCHRAG in Pretty Prairie. She survives. Other survivors include: son, Dennis Huxman and wife, Alice, Hillsboro; four daughters, Lynette Peterman and husband, Bill, Hutchinson, Cheryl Dooley and husband, Tony, Haysville, Debbie Ratzlaff and husband, Ron, North Newton, Beth Darrow and husband, Roger, Newton; sister, Irene Graber, Pretty Prairie; brothers, Marvin Huxman, Hutchinson, and Alvin Huxman, Pretty Prairie; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
