After her mother died when she was a year old, she was raised by her aunt and uncle John and Mary Klein until her father married Catherine Sterkel when she was 6.

 Mary and LaVERNE MEYER, SR. were married Sept. 16, 1947.   Survived by her children Sharon (Mick) Lemley of Scottsbluff, Diana (Steve) Tucker of Yuma, Ariz.; LaVerne (Jennifer) Meyer Jr. of Bayard and brother-in–law Ken (Norma) Meyer of Scottsbluff; sisters Delores (Ray) Lipps of Casper, Wyo., Elsie (Dale) Ramson of Riverton, Wyo., Shirley (Gerald) Green of Torrington, Wyo. and Sally Taylor of Arizona; grandchildren Miles and Matt Lemley, Chris Tucker, Melissa Tucker-Goodine, Amanda McClure, Valerie Wolverton, Lauren Akerson and Katherine Meyer, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her parents, husband Vern on June 15, 1991; brothers David, Floyd and Harry, sisters Martha, Marie, Irene, Ellen and two infant sisters.

(Sader) Riffel.  Married RETHA M. GILLETT, on August 26, 1956 at Woodbine; she preceded in death on November 23, 1993.  Allso preceded in death by a sister Patricia “Pat” Gilbert on September 4, 2005, and his parents. Survived by a son Marc Riffel (wife-Toni) of Woodbine, two (2) daughters: Paula Acheson (husband-Greg) of Woodbine, & Marcia Munsell of Olathe, three  sisters: Carol Troisi (husband-Gilbert) of Milford, DE, Janis Bell (husband-Albert) of Wichita, & Rose Marie Beneke of Winchester, VT. She preceded him in death Feb. 24, 2008. NESS CITY - Mary Frances Rupp Eggers, 98, died Aug. 7, 2010.   Born Oct. 9, 1911, to Joseph and Katherine Dechant Rupp.  On Feb. 18, 1938, she married CHARLES EGGERS. He died March 15, 1992. Survivors include: sons Kenneth J. and Gary W.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul Rupp and Adam Rupp; sisters, Julia Stoecklein, Rita Riebel and Elvira Billinger.

Mitchell "Mitch" William Rupp, 26, El Dorado, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at Susan B. Allen Hospital.  Born Aug. 22, 1983, in Medicine Lodge to Neal and Mary Sue (Underwood) Rupp.  Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Dustin, Hoisington, and Jordan, El Dorado; a sister, Jamie Klug and husband, Darren, Newton; his grandfather, Jack Underwood, Ashland; his grandmother, Frances Rupp, Hays; a niece, Adalyn; a nephew, Isaac Klug; five aunts; and five uncles.   Preceded in death by a grandmother, Mary Underwood; a grandfather, Alois Rupp; and an uncle, Bill Rupp.

MITCHELL - Ray Russell, 82, passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010 in  Scottsbluff.  Born Oct. 18, 1927, in Mitchell and was raised on farms in and around the Russell family farm in Mitchell Valley.  Following his grandmother's death in 1963, Ray and his wife RUTH (BRETHOUR) bought the Russell family homestead in Mitchell Valley and moved there in 1964.  Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children, Kathy Russell (Doug Stephens) of Douglas Wyo., Karen Moore (Jack) of Prescott Ariz., and Connie Goers (Mike) of Scottsdale Ariz. and son, Ron Russell (Wanda) of Torrington; grandchildren, Kate Painter, Keturah Lawton (Tim), Amy Painter, Lori Russell, Levi Painter (Trisha) and Jim Russell (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Preston and Thomas Painter, Wyatt and Randy Peters, Ian, Erik and Jetta Lawton, and Lydia Painter; brother, Jack Russell of Denver, sisters-in-law, Char (Bob) Russell of Firestone Colo., Melba (Bill) Russell Stager of Morrill, and nieces and nephews.  Preceding him in death were his parents, twin brothers, Bill Russell and Bob Russell, and nephew, Rodney Russell.

NEWTON --Bernice Rebecca Unruh, 81, died Tuesday (July 27, 2010) in Newton.  Born on Aug. 18, 1928, in Newton to Julius and Martha (Wiens) Rutschman. On August 25, 1946, she married ELMER UNRUH, and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2003.  Survived by her sons, Gary and Teri Unruh of Newton, Steve and Penny Unruh of Topeka, and Bruce and Sherry Unruh of Wichita; brother, Marvin and Jane Rutschman of Dodge City; sister, Lorene and Ron Grapengator of Newton; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Unruh; brother, Alvin Rutschman; sisters, Ella Miller, Delores Schenewerk, Florene Lettau, Julia Mae Decker and Blanche Early; father, Julius Rutschman; and her mother, Martha Rutschman.

SAWYER – Gloria Ann Riffel, 79,  died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Sawyer.   Born Dec. 19, 1930, in Carlton, the daughter of Jacob Henry and Valene Elizabeth (James) Rutz.   On Aug. 26, 1948, she married PERCY WILBERT RIFFEL.  Mr. Riffel preceded her in death on June 13, 1999. Survivors include one daughter, Marlene Boyd of Sawyer; three sons, Tracy Dean?Riffel of Hope, David Eugene Riffel of Wichita and John Henry Riffel of White City; brothers, Willis Lee Rutz of Enterprise, James Robert Rutz of Goodland and Ray Allen Rutz of Channelview, Texas; sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Riffel of Herington, Carol Sue Stromgren of Abilene, Joyce Marie Gaston of Abilene and Shirley Mae Pennington of New Castle, Ind.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and other relatives.  Besides her husband Percy, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Roger Lee Riffel in 1966 and Robert Lynn Riffel in 1997; a brother, Wayne Francis Rutz and a sister, Katherine Louise Holdridge.
