Daughter of Adam Keil and K. E. Kahl. Married in 1855 to John Frederick HEINITZ who was born and died in Russia. He died in 1893 having attained the age of 63.
In this union 16 children were born, two sets of twins and a set of triplets. Only two sons lived to be adults. The rest of the children died and were buried in Russia. As a widow she was not allotted very much ground to farm, so this made her living merger and she was not able to come with her step-mother, brother and half-brothers to America, on Oct. 6, 1876. In 1907 her brother John George Keil sent money for her and her family to come to America. Anna Katherine and two sons, John Frederick and George F., their wives and two of John Frederick's children set sail on a ship called Kella at Bremen, Germany arriving at Galveston, Texas on March 17, 1907. John Fredericks's child Emilie had to stay in Germany with friends because of illness. She came with people a couple of years later. For a number of years Anna made her home with her brother John George, in Milberger, Kansas while her family worked to repay the debt for the trip to Kansas.
